Seller's Description:
Neat little break open single shot BB rifle. And it works great! This was found in an old house in the 1970's between the house and barn portion up here in VT. It was tucked into an open portion of wall and apparently forgotten. As best as I can tell it is the 1917 Sterling Special Air Rifle: Single shot break-open. All sheet metal barrel, frame and grip frame; cast iron trigger. Nickel plated. Simple board style Walnut stock with crescent butt. V-notch rear sight, post front sight. Same as the 1891 model Sterling except marked: American Tool Works, St. Joseph, Michigan. They were manufactured with these markings from 1917 to 1929. Sold by Sears in 1917 for 42 cents. (Scarce). The original nickle has flaked in a few spots and those spots have turned brown from rust. I think this would vclean up better. You could probably polish the rust or brown spots off but I'll let that be to the new owner's discretion. Stock is excellent. A really RARE antique airgun for your collection.
